There are several hints around the tower, so much talks about surface integrity, Riebeck tells you to use your scout to monitor it, the windows prompt you to throw your scout in, there is every chance you'll see the tower fall or find it just chilling by the white hole and work it out too it's more of an aid you can point people towards if frustration is setting in

Meditation isn't meant to be unlocked easily, it can really spoil playthroughs if gotten too early.

If anything I would add MORE time windowed elements, that's the core nature of a timeloop game, that you need to take into account when as well as what/where. And I really loved that setpiece so it's hard to fault it) (Also with the HEL I think it's to set up a setpiece where you're running through corridors as the sand rises? By its nature they need you to start as a particular sand height so the tension of "i don't know if I'll make it in time" can be there. No dialog options about "the sun is gonna go supernova" or like, ways to try and save the village though. One idea I like is that there's some festival that the Hearthians are preparing for throughout the cycle and it happens in the last 3 minutes so if you notice you're almost out of time there's a place you can go to spend those last moments. Timber Hearth is stuck in time and that's part of the tragedy, but it also makes the Hearthians seem less alive than even the Nomai who exist only as text records. Have the kids chase each other through the village, have the Hearthians move from place to place in the cycle like maybe the miner stops mining at 15m and goes and sits by the river.Īll the other planets aside from DB change throughout the cycle. It makes sense from a gameplay perspective that you want players to go explore the system not spend their time trying to like, tell Hal that the sun is gonna blow up. Make the timber hearth village more of a living place. Let the player be part of the traveller's song at the end. Like, Wii Music style where it chooses the notes for you automatically but you can do some things to improvise on the theme. Give the player a violin or something that they can play like pulling out your signalscope. What are yours? Do you have any ideas on what could've been improved or added?

But those are my only issues with the game. There's some more minor issues I have with Dark Bramble, like leaving a node and re-entering when an anglerfish is deep in the entrance will have you die instantly which feels a liiiittle bit unfair. I didn't struggle with this but I've seen many people not know you can zoom. The game never really tells you your signalscope has a zoom function other than a button on screen, which IMO isn't enough. The part of the ending where you have to get Chert's instrument is a lil unintuitive. It feels unfair but I have *no clue* how they'd do it better, so that's why I'm not going to bash on it. I want to get up there!" I dunno, just something, anything to improve that puzzle. Or maybe some note from Riebeck that talks about the quantum tower and says something along the lines of "This is the one time I wish gravity didn't exist. There should be some Nomai text nearby that talks about fragments of the planet falling into the black hole, maybe even a Nomai house that fell down and all the furniture inside floated away because of zero G. I love the solution, but there are 0 hints towards it. The Quantum Tower puzzle is this game's biggest flaw. This isn't a massive issue however, as you can always pretty easily die wherever you are. Perhaps Slate can teach you an 'old trick they learned from Gabbro' to calm you down after freaking out about your death. The meditation thing should be available through less obscure means. This includes the Anglerfish Fossil to an extent but I'm more okay with it. The ones where you're waiting for it to drain are fine, but the one on the way to the HEL doesn't contribute anything to the overall journey there. What would that thing be for you, or multitude of things?įor me, I'd just dump the puzzles where you have to wait for sand to rise up. So we all know that Outer Wilds is the GOAT yadda yadda, but there are some obvious (but minor) flaws and some things that could be improved.
